Frédéric Lamblot: co-write OpenBox!

What is your background?
Like many people from Lyon working in construction, I come from the "La Martinière Monplaisir" nursery, where I trained in Civil Engineering.
Before OpenBox, I held the positions of Head of Studies and Products at AST Groupe, Technical Business Manager at Renault Trucks, and Technical Salesperson at Vinci Construction France. I have worked on very different projects, from civil engineering works to industrial buildings and even single-family homes. Projects that enriched my experience and built my expertise.

How did you join OpenBox?
After 20 years of experience, you know what you want and what you don't want anymore.
My career evolutions often came through changing companies. This was the case in 2018, at the dawn of my 40s, when my desire to find THE right position led me to meet OpenBox.
A true revelation, this small, flexible, dynamic, innovative, humble, and sincere company won me over, firstly because these qualities benefit both employees and clients!
Moreover, the cross-functional nature of the Head of Studies role, the autonomy, the great trust given and the closeness to the client made my decision to join OpenBox an obvious one.

What are your current responsibilities?
I held the position of Head of Studies until the beginning of 2023, when my need to gain a broader perspective on projects, my desire to engage in sales, and my interest in quality aspects aligned with OpenBox’s needs. Together with David Fitoussi, OpenBox’s president for the past 2 years, we co-created a tailored position, that of Commercial / Studies Manager.

I currently have several responsibilities: the commercial development of OpenBox in close collaboration with David, overseeing studies with both a technical and commercial perspective, as well as monitoring the quality of studies and the associated tools.

For 2024, we want to strengthen our presence in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes: the industrial fabric there is dynamic, and we know this market well having built several projects there (GLD in Grenoble, STEF, Deguise toi.fr, and Transports Charvin in Nord Isère, BioMérieux in Ain, Kuehne+Nagel and France Machines Outils in Rhône, or Papeteries Pichon in Loire).

What do you appreciate about OpenBox?
The Co Design&Build. It may seem very marketing-driven, but it’s a reality. This unique concept in France offers our clients an experience entirely based on transparency and collaboration, with the bonus of sharing savings.

Whether it’s for business or for the real comfort of working with our clients, it’s a real advantage, a true shared value.
Another highly appreciated point, which aligns with the first, is the desire for everyone to be able to express themselves and be heard within our team. With trust and autonomy that contribute to a global operation quite close to a liberated company. I quite like the image of the well-shod shoemaker!

Agility and the speed of decision-making, whatever it may be, is also highly appreciated. For us as well as for our clients.

One key word?
Co! We co-write, co-design, co-build projects internally just as we do with our clients with whom we co-profit from the savings made!

An anecdote about OpenBox, its team?
At the beginning of 2018, in search of the famous position, a headhunter contacted me and told me about OpenBox. I had just come out of an experience with another Lyon-based company in the commercial building sector and no longer wanted to work in that field. I still remember the insistence with which this person urged me to meet Bertrand Chabanne and Laurent Charrier (former technical director), but not just any insistence, "…you really have to meet them."
Result: an interview like never before! As soon as I left, I could sell Co Design&Build to anyone! I was already picturing myself in the position, in this super friendly team. During that interview, I felt true consideration, a great simplicity in the exchanges, with a concept that made sense both internally and with clients.
